The traditional path says: Find a studio, wait for permission, make the film. The Null Variable is running a different experiment.
We are proving that a world can be born from collective intent, not corporate funding (see our full manifesto on Why This Has To Exist).
This isn't the cheap path. It's the deliberate one.
The Null Variable is being assembled the way open-source software is assembled.
Many independent contributors. Shared vision. One architect.
You don't need to believe in the film. You need to believe in the artifact.
Below are open artifacts. Each one is a position in this universe, a standalone creative piece that can exist independently of the film.
You retain ownership of your work and are credited wherever it appears in the TNV ecosystem.
If The Null Variable progresses into commercial production and your composition is selected for use, a separate sync and licensing agreement will be negotiated.
Think of it like a follower dropping a comment on a musician's video: "Hey, could you do a cover of this song?" You make it. You post it. You own it. People discover you through it.
The Archive works on the same principle.
The only difference? The prompt happens to be a piece of a world instead of a melody. An artifact might be a character, a location, a tarot card, or a theme that sparks your imagination. You respond to it in your own voice. You keep your work. You keep your rights. If it fits the world, we give it a place in the archive and point people right back to you.
We accept both new and existing work. If you have a dark ambient track, a myth-noir illustration, or a design that already fits this world, send it over. No need to create something new unless you want to.
No one is hired here. No one is obligated to contribute. No one is asked to give up ownership. This is an invitation, not an expectation. Not employment. Not a commission. Not surrendering your creativity. Just creators responding to a spark, jamming on an idea, and building something larger together.
Already made something that feels like this world?
