The rules are simple. The consequences are not.
Gods exist. They always have. But faith is an unreliable power source, it fluctuates, it dries up, it gets redirected toward celebrities and algorithms.
So the divine reorganised.
Heaven became a holding company. The Underworld became a compliance department. Ancient pantheons restructured into something more sustainable: bureaucracies. Celestial departments with jurisdictions, filing systems, and performance reviews.
The Kabeiroi were the exception. Forged before the restructuring, outside any pantheon's jurisdiction, divine judges built to pass sentence on souls even gods refused to touch. They answered to no department. They answered to the balance itself.
They were also, eventually, inconvenient.
One by one they were retired. Unmade. Filed away.
One wasn't.

The Null Variable is set in Kuala Lumpur, a city where Dato Kong shrines glow at 2am next to convenience stores, colonial architecture rots beautifully into neon, and ancient mythology shares a street corner with modern chaos. No set build required. The atmosphere already exists.
Tone: Constantine's grime. Succession's power games. Sandman's mythic weight. Humor as a survival mechanism in cosmic despair.
